This might be some good news for you Eileen. The legal notice section of the township's site has a post about an ordinance to excecute a cable franchise agreement between Comcast and the township. This is to be discussed and possibly passed at the March 31, 2005 meeting.
Looks like they came up with something in the nick of time. Maybe you and all the other Comcast customers in the area can keep your cable after all.

Chad,
Yep. . .that is good news, both personally and as a taxpayer. Hopefully, Comcast wants a long-term agreement, so we won't have to deal with this again for awhile.

Eileen, Doug, et.al., I made a mistake. I misspoke. I was encouraging supervisors to continue to defend their decision to oppose the cell tower. In response to Brian's statement that he didn't want to put "grandmother" out in the street, I replied $15-20 a week is not going to put an old lady out in the street. I MEANT to say $15-20 a YEAR, which is approximately what the now defunct township tax was. I stand by the rest of my statement that Spring Meadows Park is an UNACCEPTABLE location for a Cell Tower. Parks are designed for a purpose. Spring Meadows is a natural treasure, and I see it as the "Crown Jewel" of our parks system. As development encroaches, preservation of open space becomes more vital. I do not like paying taxes anymore than the next person. I sympathize with those on a fixed income. However, Supervisors made a decision to fight the introduction of this eyesore in our community. They should not be forced to accept blight because of lack of resources. If Supervisors choose to abandon the fight due to fiscal considerations, then unfortunately the tower should be placed where it was origionally zoned. The proposed shifting of location to the Park placates those in the Karns/Oaks area at the expense of those in the Springville Point/Springville Terrace area. Are their homes somehow less valuable? Are future generations of children to be forced to play in the shadow of a Cell Tower? I again urge our Supervisors to abandon the proposed desecration of one of the most beautiful parks in our township and suurounding area. I apologize for my mistake. I will make a public correction at the next hearing. Respectfully Submitted, Joe Fay

Oh boy, here we go again! Another race between the township supervisors and the school board trying to prove to the taxpayers who can be the silliest and dumbest. Unfortunately this contest can only have one true loser...the taxpayer! So, our township supervisors have now taken on Comcast, the cell tower and now the school board. What's next, the Taliban? Supervisors, how about for once ignoring your inflated egos and doing what's right for the township and the taxpayers. Of course you could simply retire and do us all a favor!
