Calling All Bubblers
Bubblers unite! I am calling on all Boiling Springs alumni and residents who want to maintain the rural character of our township to vote for two of our hometown volunteers running for office. Liz Knouse, candidate for re-election to the school board, graduated from Bubbletown and has the MOST experience of any of the candidates when it comes to education. Liz balances having both the best interests of the children at heart as well as the taxpayer’s wallets. She strives to get the School Board and the Township Supervisors to work together on issues so that we are a more cohesive community partnering to make South Middleton the best that it can be. Other candidates have allegedly called Liz a “Local Yokel” in a derogatory manner. I am PROUD to be a “Local Yokel” and am OUTRAGED that they think negatively of people who grew up here. Let’s show the other candidates that we support “one of our own” who has served her community for many years!
George Stapleton is running for Township Supervisor. Vote for him and you won’t have to worry about putting another “Yes Man” into office who will always vote the way the other board members dictate. Stapleton believes in creating community forums, researching issues fully, and harnessing local opinion and experience to solve issues pertaining to growth and development. With 1300 homes and 33 more stores on the drawing board, don’t you want someone in office who feels that proper land use planning is of the utmost importance to maintain our rural character?
The current Supervisors approved the cell tower that, subsequently, the Oaks fought against and won while the Village fought for the same exact reasons and lost. The Halloween parade, once held for no money, could now cost $4000.00. The parade has been a tradition where we cheer for our wonderful school bands, thank our fire departments, honor our Veterans, wave to our children in their costumes, and spend time with neighbors, many of them elderly who won’t be able to travel to the park this year. Thank you to the VFW and the Fire Police for all of the support that you have dedicated to the community over the years.
I don’t object to new ideas from people who have moved into this community but I do have a problem with individuals when they want to change the small-town character of our township. They have missed out on the memories of what this township was like and how it could have been maintained. Yes, growth and change are inevitable but proper planning and communication are the keys to successful change. We must preserve what we have left before it is too late!
I want to thank Jim Baker for being the lone voice on the Board who stands up for the citizens and listens to our concerns intently. Thank you for trying to retain the rural nature of this community and trying to get all of the facts on issues and projects before approving them.
